OVERVIEW
Mental health nursing is a specialist professional course that enables you to make a unique contribution to the health and wellbeing of people of all ages who experience, or may be at risk of developing, mental health issues. However as a nurse for the future the NMC expect you to provide care for people from all fields of nursing, so we will enhance your knowledge and skills in relation to caring for adults (including older people), children and those with learning disabilities.
This is a dynamic, interactive professional course which places the needs of service patients and their families, and Mental Health Nursing practice, at its centre. The Programme Team are committed to supporting students to realise their potential to become compassionate, competent and autonomous Mental Health Nurses, who is able to meet current and future healthcare demands.
The course is delivered by experienced Mental Health Nurses with teaching and research expertise as well as experience in a wide range of clinical areas and services, including all four fields of nursing. The Mental Health lecturers have experience in child and adolescent mental health, forensic and secure, acute and crisis care, substance misuse, personality disorder and community care. The team work closely with local acute and community providers to ensure that the course remains contemporary.
